Cameroon Mission

St. John UMC has been supporting education, health and other community development priorities in Cameroon since 1994. These activities are organized and led by a group of church leaders and women’s development advocates in the coastal community of Kribi.

 Projects supported by SJUMC volunteer fundraising and community partners have included:

The construction and maintenance of a community center with a 40-bed dormitory for high school students and classrooms for community members;

  • Sewing apprentice program;

  • Computer training;

  • Small animal husbandry;

  • Construction of 10 wells;

  • Farming cooperative;

  • Eyeglass and medical supply donations; and

  • Distribution of mobility carts for people experiencing disabilities.

A report on recent Cameroon Mission activities can be found here.

 The proceeds from St. John’s annual Craft Fair and Rummage Sale benefit the Cameroon Mission, along with the support of church and community donors – all made possible by a dedicated team of SJUMC volunteers.

SJUMC has sponsored six mission trips to Cameroon to participate in local development projects and share in cultural exchange and fellowship with the mission’s long-standing partners.  These trips have taken place in 1995, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2015 and 2017, with another trip being planned for June 2024.
